James Bond Tarot Cards Prop Replica - Live And Let Die Numbered Edition

Solitaire's tarot cards are an iconic piece of Bond history, playing a central role in the supernatural world of Live And Let Die. A must-have collectible, the James Bond Tarot Cards Prop Replica - Live And Let Die Numbered Edition are made by Factory Entertainment, based on the deck in the Bond Archive.

This numbered replica set contains 37 cards - 27 cards used in production (including two recently rediscovered cards which were thought to have been lost and have never been previously reproduced) and 10 duplicate ‘The Lovers’ cards in classic Bond style.  Production run of 1200.

Backstory. Live And Let Die is the only James Bond film to feature a supernatural theme and was also the first major motion picture to feature tarot card reading as a central plot device. The producers were keen to avoid any of the typical occult stereotypes that were frequently seen in films of the period so they commissioned Scottish artist Fergus Hall to paint unique art as the centrepieces for Solitaire’s iconic cards. The compressed deadlines of film production meant that only 27 different paintings, therefore only 27 different prop cards, could be completed in time. 

A licensed deck of tarot cards inspired by the film was produced at the time of the film's release. This deck was later re-branded as ‘The Tarot of the Witches’ and remains popular with tarot practitioners and enthusiasts to this day. Both these decks feature significantly revised and edited artwork that was produced after filming had been completed and does not match those seen in the film.

Details. The Factory Entertainment team meticulously digitally restored high-resolution scans of the original prop cards in the Bond Archive. Each card is printed on heavyweight playing card stock and features the stylised 007 motif pattern on the reverse. Presented in a gift box, with a magnetic closure, each set includes an individually numbered certificate of authenticity booklet and a screen-accurate black velvet storage bag.
